Morgantown Injury Law Firm Supports Empty Bowls 2015Congratulations to the coordinators and volunteers of Empty Bowls Monongalia for the most successful luncheon to date.  More than $106,000 has been raised to benefit local food pantries, with additional money still coming in to bring the goal of $125,000 for this year within reach.

Three-hundred, twenty-eight gallons of soup were served and any soup left over was donated to local food kitchens. Nearly 2,000 people were served, all by volunteers who seated patrons, served soup, drinks, as well as bread and cookies donated by local churches, businesses, and families.

More than 330 volunteers worked to make this happen, 4,000 cookies, lots of bread, and 403 gallons of soup (donated by local restaurants) were donated for the ninth annual soup and bread event, held in the Hazel and J.W. Ruby Community Center of Mylan Park.

For a minimum donation of $15.00, patrons enjoyed endless soup and had the opportunity to take home a hand-crafted ceramic bowl.

The bowls, tallying about 2,100, were crafted by artisans including the WVU Craft Center, ZenClay and The WOW! Factory, among others.

Used paper and plastic products were sent for recycling, and food waste will be used by local farmers.  Many people spent countless days and hours to ensure the smooth running of this event which was a display of Morgantown at its best.

It was a pleasure for our family and staff to play a small part in giving and serving at this stellar community event and to have a part in its success.
