Six people were injured in an accident in West Virginia that happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. on July 21. The three-vehicle crash occurred on Route 39 according to a representative for Military Affairs and Public Safety.
The incident began when a driver lost control of his car at the road’s Peters Creek intersection and hit a tractor trailer head-on. After that initial collision, the car continued moving and struck a van from the Slayton Work Camp, which is an extension of the Mount Olive Correctional Center. The van contained four inmates who were being transported to work for the Division of Highways.
The car’s driver, a resident of Summersville, was taken by ambulance to a Charleston hospital. Three of the inmates were taken to Summersville Regional Medical Center, and the fourth inmate was airlifted to a Charleston hospital for treatment. The van’s driver was also transported to Summersville Regional Medical Center, treated and released. The news source did not mention any criminal charges or citations that stemmed from the accident.
Acar accidentcould be caused by a variety of reasons. While the cause of this accident was unknown when the source reported it, the investigation from the sheriff’s office might report that the driver’s focus was not on the road when it occurred. If the police report points toward negligence on the part of the car’s driver, those injured in the crash may decide to file suit against him. An attorney retained by a victim of this accident would likely start gathering evidence against the defendant by reviewing accident reports and police accounts.
